先日SXSWの地に日本テク系企業が集結し、日本をテーマにしたパネルが多数実施されることになっていることをお伝えしたが、今、その地から日本を支援しようという声が聞こえてきた。

発表されたリリース（文末に転載）によるとWho’s Free（ソーシャル位置情報を利用した近くの友人を見つけるためのアプリ）と日本の頓智・は、公式に「WHO’S FREE 日本義援金ナイト in SXSW」を現地時間の14日に（日本時間で15日の朝）開催するそうだ。正式な発表はJapanese Mobile Leaders Forumの中で実施するとしている。

既にWho’s freeと頓智・は日本支援のパーティーを実施しており（単に飲んでるだけではない！）義援金募集のページにはすでに2万ドル近くの支援が集まっている。（日本時間3月14日16時時点）

次回のパーティーには頓智・と共にパネルに参加するGREE、芸者東京、mixiなども参加して遠くSXSWの地から日本に向けて支援のメッセージを届けてくれることになっている。

SXSWのイベントと今回の災害と重なったことはもちろん偶然だ。一部パネルに出演予定だったSerkan Toto氏や頓智・のチームは震災の影響で空港にしばらく待機していたようだが、無事オースティンへたどり着いていたと聞いている。

この状況を知ってもらうこと、彼らの善意を受け取ることはもちろん大切だが、それ以上にSXSWにいる方々には、そんな状況でもチャレンジを忘れない日本人がいるということを世界に向けてぜひ伝えてほしいと思う。

Who’s Free founder, JD, will be in attendance to possibly help with the announcement of the SXSW fundraiser, where the night will be dedicated to help save the victims of the Japan earthquake & tsunami.
