The Geospatial Information Authority of Japan recently unveiled a three-dimensional version of the nation’s map which can be viewed from various angles. You can even create a solid model of the islands using map and altitude data (based on real measurements) provided on their website.
The map works in most major web browsers, and the agency hopes it help with better management of social infrastructure, disaster prevention, as even as educational material for school children.
